WE SUPPORT PROJECT AWARE

This year Camel Tribe has supported Project AWARE Foundation with several initiatives, including a very successful #SharkWeek2017 devoted to Sharks’ Awareness and protection. Thanks to our enthusiastic team, guests and the Sharm diving community we’ve managed to raise a considerable amount which has been donated to Project AWARE. This is an excellent result paired with the several kilos of debris collected underwater during clean-ups and loads of fun for everyone involved!
Would you like to join us in supporting ocean conservation? Here is a good chance - Project AWARE's 25th Anniversary Silent Auction
We are honored to participate in the annual Charity Auction and offer our Camel Lot in support of the Ocean. Bid on your desirable prize and help Project AWARE Foundation to tackle some of the ocean's toughest challenges. It’s very easy, just click on one of the Lot pictures and you will be asked to place your bid. Hurry up, the auction will close on 31 October 2017. Winners will be notified by email. Thanks for supporting our Ocean!

SS THISTLEGORM – ONE OF THE WORLD BEST WRECK DIVE SITES

The 6th of October marked the 76th anniversary of the sinking of the Old Lady in the Red Sea waters. She was packed to the gunwales with a cargo of supplies destined for the British fifth army based in Alexandria. Armoured Bren-Gun carriers, BSA motorcycles, jeeps, trucks, rolling stock, aeroplane parts, stacks of rifles, radio equipment, munitions, and a plentiful supply of Wellington boots can all be seen during your dive.
The Thistlegorm is heaven for wreck enthusiasts, but is also one of the most underrated fish dives in the area, attracting schooling barracuda and providing a hunting ground for giant tuna and snapper.

HOW WE DIVE THE THISTLEGORM AT CAMEL
Within our mission to preserve the wreck, whilst maintaining our usual safety standards for our guests and staff, we proudly abide to the local rules requiring a minimum of 20 logged dives for divers to be able to join the trip along with an individual assessment by our guides. Moreover, we have recently implemented new mooring procedures for diving the SS Thistlegorm in order to minimize diver impact on her fragile condition. This is one of the favourite trips for many of our guides and guests. It’s a daily excursion and requires an early start but it is definitely worth it. After breakfast on board, and passionate, informative briefings, you will perform two dives on the wreck. Normally the first dive is an orientation outside the wreck, whilst the second dive consists of the actual penetration. This day generally allows the opportunity to make an optional third dive at famous Shark & Yolanda Reef, at a time when often no other boats are present! Excursions to the ‘Gorm are organized frequently and now guaranteed once a week.
