The Camel team is excited to announce that we have received the
PADI Green Star Award. This Award is granted to us for the
5th consecutive time for our commitment to conservation initiatives and our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our daily operations at
Camel Hotel and
restaurants, at our
dive centres and on our dive boats. Special mention must be made of our
Camel Tribe boat which is the first daily boat of its kind in Sharm el Sheikh to have all the onboard electronics powered by a
solar powered generation system. This is supplemented by an additional alternator from one of the engines. The boat’s
septic tank means that effluents will not be pumped into the water whilst on a mooring and there is also an
energy-efficient fresh air inlet system, designed to keep the lower saloon cool. Being divers, we know that the
protection of the underwater world is paramount to the future of the Red Sea and the World Ocean in general. Our team keep on working towards taking proactive action to ensure that our oceans stay as pristine and beautiful. Thank you to
PADI organisation for recognizing that. With the help of this “star” divers all over the world can check the environmental policies of the operators they're choosing and
opt for environmental awareness. At Camel, our eco achievements both below and above water wouldn't be possible without the
enthusiastic support of our guests and instructors – THANK YOU. We want to say thank you also to the
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society who is regularly organising the clean ups around Sharm, in which we are honoured to take part. We hope that more and more divers, diving organisations and clubs will think “green” and cooperate to
reduce their environmental footprint.
Let’s protect what we love.
