Newsletter

Dear Diver,

Welcome to our January newsletter!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR DIVERS TRAVELLING FROM UK – Let’s clarify!

After the recent update from easyJet and British Airways, we thought it would be a good idea to shed some light on the whole UK flight situation and travel advice for Sharm El Sheikh.

SECURITY:

  • The Foreign Office did NOT raise the threat level in Sharm El Sheikh, which is considered a safe destination for tourists. This means that you CAN enjoy a holiday at the resort, if you can reach it.
  • There have been different security teams’ visits and checks at Sharm El Sheikh airport and all received a positive feedback.
  • Last week, the Egyptian Government announced £26 million worth of extra security for tourist resorts and hired the UK safety consultants Control Risks to assess all procedures at airports across the country.
FLIGHTS:
Airlines from other countries such as Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, Kuwait and Jordan are operating as normal with direct flights to Sharm El Sheikh. Travellers from all over the world, including many UK expats, are currently reaching Sharm either with flights from these countries or with flights to other Egyptian destinations (ie. Cairo and Hurghada) and then with domestic EgyptAir flights to Sharm.
  • The nearest date for resuming direct flights from UK was announced by Monarch Airlines to be March 18.
  • Package holiday operators Thomson, First Choice and Thomas Cook have declared that they will not fly to the resort until March 23.
  • easyJet has suspended the flights until 27 May.
  • British Airways has cancelled all services up to and including June 30.
For UK visitors (and not only) there are several alternative ways to reach Sharm.
Some examples:
Fly with Pegasus Airlines this February from London Gatwick to Sharm El-Sheik via Istanbul starting from 401 Euro (return). Our British guests are also choosing EgyptAir (via Cairo) or a combination of British Airways (to Cairo) and EgyptAir (from Cairo to Sharm). From Italy, Meridiana has cheap deals departing from Milan Malpensa starting from 319 Euro return. Please get in touch with us at if you wish us to assist in finding flight options to Sharm.
