Blos

I went snorkeling on the same boats as my friends were diving. I was treated with the same courtesy, respect and professionalism I have come to expect from Camel on…

Give sharks a chance

Give sharks a chance
We would like to say a huge "thank you" to all our guests who signed an online petition demanding stronger protection of sharks worldwide. For the whole of July we provided a dedicated laptop at our Naama Bay dive centre, to encourage divers to sign the petition. The petition was launched by Project AWARE Foundation and AWARE divers worldwide, after the conference of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), held in Qatar in March, failed to agree on proposals to restrict trade in eight shark species. It's not too late to show your support by signing the petition. Check back with us for details of our events during European Shark Week, 9-17 October 2010.

Prescription Masks

jay: Hi guys, I’m heading out to sunny sharm again in a few weeks and I think I need a new prescription mask (obviously to see the whale sharks better!). Has anyone got any advice/tips etc please?

Photos: Shark Reef – the Wall

Shark Reef, an 800 metre-deep wall at the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, ranks as one of the world’s best diving spots. Nutrient-rich currents from the Gulfs of Suez and Aqaba meet here to create the perfect environment for a rich variety of underwater life. In summer, the currents attract huge schools of spawning fish. To celebrate this unique dive, photographer Erich Reboucas has collected beautiful Shark Reef shots like this one, into an online album on Flickr. Enjoy.

Probably the most famous bar in Sharm El Sheikh

Camel Bar in the centre of Na’ama Bay actually has three bars. 22:00 – Live Music – 19th Band

The 19th Band is one of the most popular Rock bands in the Egyptian today. The band draws influences from the Rock n’ Roll era of the 60s and 70s all the way to the alternative sounds of the 90s Rock scene. The band has been around for the last 3 years, and in that short period of time was able to make a name for itself as one of the best live acts in the country. With their explosive Rock n’ Roll spirit, the band is known for their high energy performances.
