About the Contest
Underwater Stories from the Red Sea celebrates the art of storytelling beneath the surface.
We invited entries that captured the beauty, atmosphere and emotion of the Red Sea, and
we are pleased to announce the two winners of this year’s competition:
Best Photo Story and Best Video Story.
Best Photo Story Winner
Jean-Baptiste Cazajous is the winner of our photography category.
Through his work, he shares a series of striking images taken during his dives in the Northern Red Sea.
Best Video Story Winner
Simone Piccoli is the winner of our video category with Echoes of the Red Sea — a short-form film that reminds us of the importance of respecting and protecting the Red Sea.

Meet the Jury
A remarkable group of photographers, storytellers, and ocean lovers who share a deep respect for the sea. Each brings a unique perspective — from scientific insight to artistic vision — united by a passion for capturing the underwater world in its most genuine form.
Alex Mustard (UK)
Multiple award-winning underwater photographer and marine biologist, recognised worldwide for his
innovative approach to underwater imaging. His work and publications have inspired a new generation of
divers and ocean storytellers.
Alexander Kassler (DE)
Editor-in-Chief of TAUCHEN magazine and a respected underwater photographer and journalist. Since
2005, he has shaped the way dive destinations and marine life are portrayed in European media.
Pietro Formis (IT)
Italian underwater photographer and visual artist, winner of Wildlife Photographer of the Year and
European Wildlife Photographer of the Year. His images reveal the hidden poetry and fragile beauty of the
underwater world.
Frederico Serra (PT)
Award-winning Portuguese film director and producer, known for his feature films as well as decades of
high-end, prize-winning commercial TV advertisements for big international clients. He has been a keen
diver since 1984.
Vasco Pinhol (PT)
Award-winning photographer, award-winning writer, focused on the ways visual story-telling can help
conservation efforts. He has authored books and articles on traveling and owns a branding agency for the
sea-related industries.
