Camel and Marine Man together for Dive for Debris Month
Camel added some colour to the Project AWARE “Dive for Debris Month” this September. Ian Churchill’s Marine Man came to Sharm to wage war on his 3 arch-enemies: Octo, The Mariner and underwater debris! Camel Dive Club’s real-world marine men and women took to the bay to help him deal with a matter of life and depth – trash! Armed with broom handle Tridents, THOSE green leopard print shorts, veggie bags and Marigolds, our superheroes successfully groomed the Na’ama Bay training area. The majority of the rubbish found was plastic and cigarette filters (which are made from cellulose acetate – a plastic slow to degrade). Savemyoceans says: “Organisms at the bottom of the food chain, such as plankton and krill ingest chemicals attached to microscopic plastic particles. As larger fish consume the smaller ones, the chemicals work their way up the food chain. This then has a devastating effect on human health.” Thanks to the 44 staff and guests who took part on our four underwater clean up events during Project AWARE’s Dive for Debris month, collecting a total of 22 kg.

Speedboat diving: Million Hope
This Summer our speedboat rocked! Hammerheads have been an almost guaranteed sighting on the back of Jackson Reef (Tiran) which we reach in less than 20 minutes, departing from our private jetty. But the good news is not over! Camel now gives you the extraordinary possibility to dive the Million Hope by speedboat all year round (weather permitting). The largest shipwreck of the Red Sea is just 25 minutes ride from our centre at Grand Rotana Resort & Spa (Sharks Bay). Don’t miss this peaceful and uncrowded dive site which just a few lucky divers visit during their holiday. Book your speedboat dive at the counter.
