Camel hosts the first underwater wheelchair artist in the Red Sea
Hundreds of views in just a few days after its release: this is the amazing response to our video of the making of “Creating the Spectacle!”, by wheelchair artist Sue Austin and the Freewheeling team. Sue learnt to dive at Camel in 2005 and came back to Sharm this year for filming the extraordinary performances of her underwater wheelchair, which has been custom built by the team in Dorset, UK. Somersaults, dancing moves and acrobatics may be considered challenging to perform underwater. You’ll be shocked to see how Sue managed them on her self-propelled wheelchair, underwater and without wearing a mask! Camel is proud to be one of the sponsors of this fantastic project to which our instructors Cath and Tamer actively contributed since the very beginning. All the Camel Tribe has been involved with great enthusiasm to make this happen. Share this inspirational video with your friends, especially with those who need motivation to start diving!
Amazing sightings this Summer in Sharm El Sheikh
All Red Sea lovers know that Summer is the best time for exceptional sightings…this year the Red Sea has decided to satisfy even the most demanding divers. Perfect visibility, warm water temperature and truly great sightings every dive, which our guests and staff reported with great enthusiasm sometimes directly from our boats right to our Facebook page. Turtles, eagle rays, manta rays, whale sharks, hammerhead sharks (mainly seen by divers who chose our express speed boat service), massive schools of snappers, unicorn fish, batfish, barracudas, jackfish, tuna and, last but not least, dolphins! We have many photos and footage of all these sightings on our Facebook page, which has now become a crowded virtual square for our guests and staff and has almost reached 3000 likes. We love meeting you there, let us hear your voice and watch your photos and videos!
New Sidemount Instructors at Camel
Congratulations to our instructors Cath and Sven, who have both just become TDI Sidemount Diving Instructors. At Camel you can now book Sidemount courses in German as well as six other languages -Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and of course, English. Widely used in cave diving, sidemount diving application has recently spread to the open water. During the TDI and PADI courses offered at Camel, you have the option to learn new equipment configurations for both no-stop and decompression diving. In addition, you’ll master new skills involving diving with a long hose, two cylinders and improving your trim. Cath – TDI Advanced Trimix and PADI Tec Trimix Instructor- said, “Our instructor Leigh’s frequent visits to the Mexican Cenotes brought a cave-specific approach to our instructor course without involving extreme deep penetration in overhead environments.” Should you already be qualified in TecRec programs or you are a TDI technical diver, our instructors can qualify you in Technical Sidemount up to the depth of your current certification.
