Dear Diver

The 'big stuff' is back! With the water temperature already 24C, this week our divers have seen Eagle Rays and a Turtle at Middle Garden, a Manta at Far Garden, and a Leopard Shark at Thomas Reef. We’re looking ahead to another fantastic summer underwater, so if you would like to join us, don’t forget our summer specials offer up to 25% off your diving.

In the meantime, why not follow us on Twitter, Facebook or the Camel Forum for news of our latest sightings? Or take a look at our photos of Shark Reef, which is at its most spectacular in summer. Diving is not all about big fish though, as demonstrated by our latest video featuring the Red Sea's most beautiful tiny creatures. Finally, you can read more about the diving, kitesurfing and other activities around the Red Sea, in the latest issue of Blue magazine.

We wish you happy diving!

Your Camel Dive Club team

Photos: Shark Reef – the Wall

Shark Reef, an 800 metre-deep wall at the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, ranks as one of the world’s best diving spots. Nutrient-rich currents from the Gulfs of Suez and Aqaba meet here to create the perfect environment for a rich variety of underwater life. In summer, the currents attract huge schools of spawning fish. To celebrate this unique dive, photographer Erich Reboucas has collected beautiful Shark Reef shots like this one, into an online album on Flickr. Enjoy.

Special offer: 3 days diving 123 Euro

Join us for spectacular dives this summer! Book a flight package to any hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, and you can save up to 25% off your diving package. From 15 May-15 July 2010, 3 days guided boat diving costs just 123 Euro when booked in advance. This includes nitrox and free transfers to/from all hotels in Sharm. The same package with a 7-night stay at Camel Hotel costs only 279 Euro per person sharing, during the same period. See all our special offers.

BLUE magazine, out now online

The latest BLUE magazine is out now! The Camel team features in three articles: our work to establish new dives sites at Ras Mohammed (page 8); Tom Osborn on life as an underwater videographer (p 28); and Cath Bates’ regular tec column (p36). The magazine also includes an insider’s guide to the wreck of the Umbria, compact camera advice, windsurfing in Dahab, and much more. Blue is free, and available to view online or download. It is published by Egypt's Chamber for Diving and Watersports (CDWS).

Video: Red Sea Micro Life

From colourful nudibranchs to delicate cleaner shrimps, our Red Sea reefs are home to a wealth of tiny life. In her latest beautiful video, our videographer Carlotta Rio captures some of the details that we may overlook while searching for the ‘big stuff’. You can watch Red Sea Micro Life (2 min 17s) on our home page (click on the ‘Already a Diver?’ tab at the top) or on Vimeo.
