Camel Dive Club celebrates 20 Years in 2006
Camel Dive Club is 20 years old this year!
Both Camel and the resort of Sharm el Sheikh have seen huge change over the
past 20 years.
When it started in 1986 Camel Dive Club consisted of a one-storey stone building
(the diving centre), some straw huts (the 'hotel'), a water tank and a compressor.
Na'ama Bay was little more than an empty stretch of sand!
Now Na'ama Bay is a cosmopolitan holiday resort, with Camel at its centre.
Camel Dive Club is now a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre, and a
TDI technical diving facility. The four-star Camel Hotel stands in place of
the original straw hut accommodation, along with two restaurants, a terrace
café, and the Camel Bar & Roof.
Hesham Gabr, chairman and founder of Camel Dive Club & Hotel, commented "Sharm
el Sheikh and Camel Dive Club have changed enormously over the last 20 years.
But Camel's philosophy remains the same. As divers ourselves, we have always
focused on providing what divers want - top quality facilities, friendly dive
guides, and fantastic diving".
We will be commemorating 20 years of Camel throughout 2006, so please come
and help us celebrate!
Happy Birthday Camel, and here's to the next 20 years!
Free Wi-Fi Internet Hot Spots At Camel Dive Club
You're
lucky enough to see and photograph an Oceanic White Tip shark at Jackson Reef.

home, of course -- and with photographic evidence! Now you can send photos
home directly from your laptop or PDA at one of Camel's Wi-Fi Zones. And for

These special zones are located in a number of Camel's facilities including
the hotel's room terraces and pool area, Pomodoro restaurant and the relaxed

stories home for free whilst enjoying a cool Sahkara Beer or sharing a deliciously
famous Pomodoro pizza, at one of Camel's Wi-Fi hot spots.
Camel Dive Club becomes a Mares test centre
Camel
Dive Club has joined forces with Mares, the leading
manufacturer of diving equipment, to test Mares'
new products and technologies. Camel Dive Club
was selected as a test centre since it is a recognized
and authorized facility using Mares' high- quality
diving equipment.
Camel Dive Club's Technical Manager, Ian Brown is proud to cooperate with
Divex, the exclusive distributor for Mares in Egypt, on this project. "It
is an opportunity for Camel to work with the latest in high quality scuba
equipment, and builds on our strong relationship with Mares."
Last month, Camel Dive Club tested a new design of Mares regulators. This
month Mares closed heel fins are being put to the test by Camel instructors.
The results were based on the fins' performance in open water, plus their
visual impression. Both the standard kicking method and the frog kick were
used to test the fins. Craig, one of the instructors participating in the
fin test, reported "excellent propulsion through the water in both mild currents
and when swimming against stronger currents."
Overall, feedback from the testers was very positive. Watch this space for
new and exciting diving equipment developments in 2006!
