Twenty four staff and guests cleaned up Ras Katy beach, as part of our contribution to 'Dive for Earth Day' on April 22nd. Ras Katy is one of Sharm El Sheikh's few public beaches, and is popular with guests and locals. Our Training Manager Bianca, who organized the cleanup, commented "The 46 bags we collected contain around 300 kilos of rubbish that might have ended up in the sea. About 70% was plastic bags and bottles which take years to biodegrade, releasing toxins in the process".

Camel team cleans Ras Katy
Camel’s conservation efforts go ‘global’
To involve guests in the global event 'Dive for Earth Day' on April 22nd, our Eco Tribe coordinator Cath Bates decided on a creative approach. Our dive team created a huge globe from papier mâché, constructed from wire covered by old diving magazines. They then painted the globe with a beautiful representation of a turtle and corals, and hung it in the diving centre. In exchange for LE10 (approximately 1.5 Euro) donation to Project AWARE , we invited our guests and staff to decorate the globe with their answers to the question "Why is diving important to your world?" The initiative not only raised awareness about marine conservation, but also produced a piece of 'interactive art', which will be sold to the highest bidder. The money raised will help support Project AWARE's marine preservation efforts worldwide.
Camel reopens at Laguna Vista, Nabq
“Wow!” was the reaction of staff and guests to our new-look dive centre at Laguna Vista Resort, when it reopened on 26 March. The completely refurbished building has a new air conditioned shop and reception area, plus remodelled classrooms. The shop stocks snorkelling and diving accessories, plus a full range of Camel branded dive wear. If you are staying in the Nabq area, Laguna Vista is your nearest Camel centre. We provide free transfers everyone diving or snorkeling with us. So be sure to visit the new centre and meet Ayman, Emily and the team.

Bianca becomes a PADI Course Director
Congratulations to Camel’s Training Manager, Bianca, who became a PADI Course Director in March. Bianca’s new PADI status qualifies her to train instructors on the Instructor Development Course (IDC). Our two Course Directors Bianca and Teo combine their real-world industry experience, with the high standards set by PADI, to deliver the best possible quality of instructor education.
PADI Instructor Development Course now in German and Italian
Starting this month, we teach the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) in German and Italian, as well as in English. Our IDC programme draws on the language capabilities of our two Course Directors, Teo Brambilla of XChallenge, and Bianca Greiner, Camel’s Training Manager. Bianca commented, “Especially if they have language skills, candidates on Camel’s IDC have a good chance of working with us afterwards, if they perform well during the course”. Contact us for more information about instructor courses at Camel, including discounts for residents, work experience, and work opportunities.
