Diving for people with disabilities at Camel
We welcome divers with disabilities, and are proud to hold a PADI Accessibility Award. Our facilities in Naama Bay were designed specifically with disabled divers in mind. Camel Hotel is one of the few hotels in Sharm El Sheikh in which all public areas have full wheelchair access. If you live in the UK, Scuba Trust, Back-Up Trust and Dive Ability organise regular diving holidays with us for groups.
Guided diving by boat
Divers with disabilities usually join our regular guided dives. However, as you may need extra assistance depending on the nature and extent of your disability, please inform us when making your booking. Our boat crews have years of experience assisting divers with disabilities. All our boats have spacious rear deck areas and a large, low dive platform. These make for easy dive preparation, entry and exit from the water. Several of our boats have wheelchair-accessible saloon areas. Marine toilets are available on the dive deck giving easy access, although they are not specifically designed for wheelchair access.
We offer a full range of PADI courses. Some of our dive staff are members of the Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA), although at present we do not provide courses offered by HSA or other organisations specifically for divers with disabilities.
Our instructors have experience in adapting their teaching techniques to help ensure that student divers with disabilities meet the performance requirements for certification. If you are a wheelchair user, you must be able to get in and out of your wheelchair independently and be able to complete basic diving skills without assistance.
