This month we had the pleasure of hosting TDI Instructor Trainer Mark Powell at Camel Bar, upon his return from a liveaboard trip in our beautiful Red Sea. Mark (pictured here with our tech instructor Cath Bates) is one of the UK’s technical diving instructors and wreck explorer gurus, best known for his regular column in Sport Diver magazine and for his book Deco for Divers. The topic of the presentation was “Deco Myths” and Mark shared some interesting theories regarding safety stops, bubble models, reverse profiles and deep stops (among others). Sharm’s diving community turned out in good numbers for the event and Mark was inundated with questions afterwards, by instructors wishing to pick his technical brain! Ian S., one of our regular guests, commented: “I really enjoyed Mark’s talk, it’s been so lucky to be in Sharm at this time. I love the way Mark explains decompression. He does it in a way that normal divers understand.“ Follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with upcoming events at Camel Bar.
