After eleven days of protests in Cairo and major Egyptian cities, the resort of Sharm El Sheikh and surrounding areas have not experienced any of the unrest that has been witnessed elsewhere.
During the day tourists are sunbathing as usual and excursions including diving, snorkeling and desert trips are running ordinarily, as there are no restrictions for tourists and locals on moving around Sharm and its coastline. Cafes, restaurants and nightlife venues are also operating regularly. The airport is fully open and both charter and scheduled flights are landing and departing as normal. We have approximately 40 guests diving with us at the moment. We had three boats departing this morning for daily diving at Tiran, local sites and SS Thistlegorm wreck.
Although Internet access all over Egypt has been limited during these days, here at Camel we only had a short interruption and some difficulties in receiving emails. At the moment we have full access to any website, including Facebook, Twitter and Skype.
Mobile phone networks are fully operational.
